Experience Atchafalaya Days

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Friends of the Atchafalaya, the Atchafalaya National Heritage Area, and the Louisiana Office of Tourism are planning Experience Atchafalaya Days for the month of October 2009. If you are interested in hosting or participating in an event, you can go to EAD2009.info

EAD2009 Alert!

If you want your event or sponsorship to be included in all future Experience Atchafalaya Days promotion material, we need your information as soon as possible. Right now, our presenting sponsors are the FOA, the Heritage Area and the Office of Tourism. Audubon/LA Coastal Initiative has signed on as a supporting sponsor but we could use more help to get the word out and to support the events. You can add events until they happen, but we can’t guarantee that you will be included in all material.  T-shirts and brochures go to printing on September 1, so we need all sponsors to respond by August 24 so that we can add your name and logo to the graphics.

Tourism Week at the Welcome Center

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

A little publicized event is happening each day next week (May 11 – 15, 2009) from 10 AM to 2 PM. Area volunteeer groups and individuals will gather at the Butte LaRose Welcome Center to cook food, have fun and promote South Louisiana Tourism and their organizations. The groups range from Federal, State and local government agencies to local businesses, tour operators, musicians and story tellers. The list is pretty long.

The details that i have are sparse but it looks like fun to me, so go on out and take a look-see.

I’ll post a report after i see what’s really going on.
