Keep in mind that each organization listed here has a different definition of the Atchafalaya Basin, based on their perspective and/or their official mandates.
Waterways in and around the Atchafalaya Basin floodways
For maps inside the Atchafalaya Basin Floodways, from Simmesport to Morgan city, you could contact the Atchafalaya Basin Program in the LA Department of Natural Resources.

Visitor Maps
The Atchafalaya National Heritage Area also has visitor maps of the Basin. These maps focus on the roads and communities surrounding the Floodway and reach well outside the area between the levees.
Topographic Maps and Digital Elevation Data
You can download or view traditional topographic maps and Digital Elevation Models from Atlas: The Louisiana Statewide GIS at http://www.atlas.lsu.edu/. You can order map data on CDs and DVDs from the site.
Navigational Charts
Finally, if you are really serious about navigation in the Floodway, you can go to the US Army Corps of Engineers site at http://www.mvn.usace.army.mil/eng/edsd/index.asp and download navigational charts and hydrographic survey products.
Be aware that any charts or maps of the waterways in and around the floodways are only as accurate as the last revision and the Basin is continually changing. Use your eyes and your tools to watch for changes in the flow and be safe.
