Volunteers Details: Register Now<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Thanks to the energetic volunteers who helped us unload 1,240 cypress trees on October 11, 2010.\u00a0Over 200 trees were packed into trucks and trailers and brought to the Big Mar Planting Site.\u00a0The remaining 1,000 trees are being held at the Pelican Greenhouse thanks to the generosity of City Park<\/strong> and the LSU AgCenter<\/strong> until they are transferred to Jean Lafitte National Park<\/strong> for planting in early December.<\/p>\n

We still need your help!<\/strong><\/p>\n

The trees need to be maintained until early December.\u00a0Volunteers will be working with the LSU AgCenter<\/strong> and AmeriCorps <\/strong>to weed and water the trees and keep them healthy.\u00a0In addition, volunteers will be helping to propagate marsh grasses for projects on Elmer\u2019s Island <\/strong>and Bayou St. John<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We are looking for 25 volunteers for each of the following dates:<\/strong>

\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wednesday, October 27th
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wednesday, November 3rd
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wednesday, November 10th
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wednesday, November 17th
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Monday, November 22nd

Volunteers are asked to volunteer from 9:00am to 3:00 pm<\/strong> and will need to supply their own lunch<\/strong>.\u00a0Volunteers will also learn about Louisiana\u2019s land loss issues and the BP Oil Spill and how projects such as this one will help restore the coast.
\nFeel free to volunteer for one or multiple days!<\/strong><\/p>\n
