When: Saturday, October 4, 2008, 9 a.m. to 12 noon<\/p>\n
Where: Bayou Sorrell Public Landings and Boat Ramps, Bayou Sorrell, LA<\/p>\n
Why:\u00c2\u00a0 For our nearly subtropical area, fall is always a time of invigoration and rejuvenation as oppressive summer heat and humidity give way to crisp autumn breezes and congregations of southward-bound creatures. As we recover from two hurricanes, and head to the polls to take part in democracy, we recognize that keeping our natural areas clean is an integral part of continuing to build a healthy economy, and maintaining a high quality of life. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s an active way to be proud of who we are and what we value. Friends of the Atchafalaya acknowledges the great strides Iberville Parish has made in this area, and invites everyone to join us, Iberville Parish Council Office, and Keep Iberville Beautiful for a morning of refreshment, renewal, and recovery. For a few hours, we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll pick up litter and appreciate Iberville\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s abundant and diverse natural history.\u00c2\u00a0 Vote early, and meet at the Bayou Sorrell Public Landing and Boat Ramp just across the East Atchafalaya Protection Levee. To get there from Baton Rouge, take LA 1 south to Plaquemine,\u00c2\u00a0 LA 75 to Bayou Sorrell, cross the bridge and take a left to the landing. When we finish there, we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll cross over to the landing east of the levee. Wear long pants, gloves, a hat, and mosquito repellent.
