Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco approved 18 local projects worth $6.2 milion through the LA Department of Natural Resources’ Atchafalaya Basin Program (ABP). Projects included boat launch construction and/or improvements at Bayou Amy in Henderson, and at Bayou Benoit and Millet Point on the West Protection Levee.
Also included were parish-sponsored recreation features in Assumption, Avoyelles, St. Martin and St. Mary parishes.
ABP Recreation projects are also underway in Iberia, Iberville and Pointe Coupee parishes.
The ABP also sponsors water management projects inside the Atchafalaya Flooway protection levees, in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
