In his recent reviews of Atchafalaya Basin Policy at LACoastPost.com, Len Bahr refers to this document as “The most concise and understandable description of the Atchafalaya River system of which I am aware…” It is well worth the read. It describes the construction,  workings, and operation of the Old River Control Structures and discusses the lower Mississippi River flood control policy.

Also, Len’s take on the integration of discussions about the Atchafalaya Basin and Coastal Issues in the second part of the series is hopeful.
