Monday night was the first of several hearings held by the Atchafalaya National Heritage Area as part of a management planning process. Each area is required, as part of its Federal designation, to prepare a management plan, and these hearings are one of the first steps in establishing a scope and approach to creating and operating the Heritage Area.
If you have any ideas about what the Heritage Area should provide in coordination, management or services to the public, then you should try to attend one of these meetings and have your voice recorded.
If you can’t make a meeting, you can download a comment form and send it in with your suggestions. Click here:
“Comment Submission Form (postage paid mailer)”
or go to the Atchafalaya Heritage Area website at:
www.atchafalaya.org and click on the link with the same name as the one above.
The National Park Service planning folks are helping the local group to prepare the plan.
